Discounts and Eligibility

Who Eligible for the Discounts?

Many passengers are entitled to significant discounts on public transportation. 
Below is a detailed list of eligible groups and their respective benefits:

  • Seniors 75+ (Zahav-Kav): Entitled to free travel on all public transport nationwide after a one-time profile update.
  • Children and Youth (up to age 18): Eligible for a 50% discount on both "Accumulated Value" (Erech Tzavur) and Monthly Passes.
  • Senior Citizens: (Women 62+, Men 67+) are entitled to a 50% discount on all public transportation services.
  • National Insurance Beneficiaries & Disabled: Eligible for a 50% discount when loading "Accumulated Value" on their Rav-Kav.
  • Students: Eligible for 33% or 50% discounts (on annual/semester passes) depending on the selected profile.
  • Blind Passengers: Entitled to a full exemption (free travel) on all lines; an escort is entitled to a 50% discount.
FAQ's

Children, Youth, and Students

Eligibility: Discounts apply to children and youth aged 5 to 18, or those over 18 still studying in 12th grade. It also includes students in special education institutions under the Special Education Law who are under 21.

Children under 5: One child under 5 may travel for free with a paying passenger; additional children must pay. Organized groups of 6 or more children under 5 must pay for each child individually.

Strollers: Open strollers are fully exempt from fares on buses at all times of the day.

Youth Discount (50%): Eligible youth receive a 50% discount when using "Accumulated Value" (Erech Tzavur). This is valid until age 18 or the end of 12th grade, whichever is later. If you turn 18 before graduating, you must present a valid school certificate at an "Al HaKav" station to extend the profile.

Requirement: These discounts are only available via a Rav-Kav card loaded with a Youth Profile.

Students

Expanded Student (50%): Students who purchase a periodic "Student Pass" are eligible for free travel within the pass zones and a 50% discount when loading "Accumulated Value."

Regular Student (33%): Students who do not purchase a periodic pass are eligible for a 33% discount on "Accumulated Value" or multi-trip tickets only.

Profile Renewal: Student profiles must be renewed periodically with a valid student ID or school certificate. If the profile expires, the ability to use loaded contracts is blocked.

Requirement: Discounts are only available via a Rav-Kav with a Regular Student (33%) or Expanded Student (50%) profile.

Disabled and Blind Passengers

Disabled: Individuals with a disability certificate from the Ministry of Defense, National Insurance Institute, IDF Veterans Organization, or Hostile Action Victims Organization are entitled to a 50% discount on "Accumulated Value" or multi-trip tickets. This requires a Disabled Profile on the Rav-Kav.

Blind: Blind passengers are fully exempt from fares on all bus and train lines. An escort is entitled to a 50% discount on single tickets.

Guide/Service Dogs: Guide dogs in training (with a certified trainer and vest) or service dogs (with a valid certificate from "Dog School" or the "Service Dog Training Center") may board for free while on a leash.

National Insurance Beneficiaries and Senior Citizens

Senior Citizens: Women aged 60+ and men aged 65+ receive a 50% discount upon presenting an ID or Senior Citizen card. This applies to Israeli residents only. If a Senior Citizen Profile is loaded on the Rav-Kav, presenting an ID is not required.

National Insurance: Men under 65 and women under 62 receiving survivors' benefits or income supplements are entitled to a 33% discount on "Accumulated Value" or multi-trip tickets. This requires an Eligible Profile on the Rav-Kav.

National Service and Volunteers

Eligibility: Soldiers in unpaid service (Shalat), Pre-military academy (Mechina) participants, and National/Civil Service volunteers are fully exempt from fares on all lines (except Eilat lines). This requires a personal Rav-Kav with the appropriate volunteer profile.

Police and Prison Service

Police: Holders of recognized Israel Police appointment cards (even without a uniform) are exempt from fares and can validate their travel using their police ID.

Prison Service (IPS): Holders of recognized IPS appointment cards (even without a uniform) are exempt from fares on all lines.
